24 Weeks

The Bean is about a foot long and a little over a pound this week.  It has become more apparent this week that I need to purchase some maternity pants/skirts, so I went shopping this weekend and finally found a skirt for work that I've been looking for.  I also happened upon a sale at Target and bought a few maternity shirts there, too.

This week I was my own photographer, so I decided to forgo the produce and just take pictures from my perspective.  Jackson woke me up early this morning begging for a walk (what's new??), and in the early sunlight, I enjoyed the bump in my shadow.

A self portrait or two in the mirror...

A view from my perspective...I can still see my toes :)
And, I even found out that I can still comfortably paint my toes, although I am not sure how much longer that will last!
Next weekend is the 4th of July, and I can't wait to spend a lot of time in and near a pool!  This Texas summer is continuing to heat up and the water will be amazing.

I have been thinking and searching and researching decor for the nursery.  I haven't pulled the trigger on any of the items yet (aside from the crib, of course), but these are my thoughts right now.  So, clockwise:  Potential Wall Sticker for above the crib, crib sheets, another wall sticker idea, our crib, glider, crib skirt, and more crib sheets.

Father's Day

For Father's Day, P and I went out for brunch for his favorite Houston meal of the moment - crab cake eggs benedict.  It was a "cooler" morning, so we sat on the patio and enjoyed a great meal.  A lot of the tables were families with young children celebrating Father's Day.  I have loved seeing P's views on kids change over the last few months.  At brunch he watched the kids and commented and laughed at what they were doing, where before, they wouldn't have crossed his radar.  Perhaps it was because they were all stylin' in their Sunday best, but I don't think so.  He is going to be a great dad, I am so excited for him!

I got P the ceramic knife that he's been looking at for a while, so we decided he needed to test out his cutting skills that evening.  I think the gift was a great success, he so enjoyed his chopping.  We must think that P enjoys cooking because my parents sent him some great grilling gear for Father's Day in addition to some wooden puzzles to teach our son how to do some day.

This weekend, P was talking to The Bean and had his head close enough that The Bean kicked him in the face.  It was so entertaining that we had to see if he would do it again, turns out, he would - right in the cheek.  I am excited about next year when our son is here to celebrate Father's Day with his Daddy.  I just hope he doesn't kick his Dad in the face that day!

23 Weeks

This week I had an appointment with the OB.  It was another fast appointment, just took my blood pressure (very low), weighed in, and listened to his heartbeat.  My next appointment is the ever so exciting glucose test that will be an hour long to test for gestational diabetes.

The bean is now over 11 inches long and weighs a little more than a pound.  The length is close to the equivalent of a butternut squash.

This week I've been feeling pretty good.  I have gotten to the point where I know I need to start eating smaller meals because I get super uncomfortable after eating too much, but getting used to the smaller portions is hard for me.  It is something I'll have to work on for a bit.

It is getting hotter and hotter in Houston, which is making running errands and shopping a little uncomfortable.  At least most of the stores around here have great air conditioners!

One thing down...

This weekend we had some fabulous company in town, and to repay them for coming to visit, we put them to work!  Just for a little while though...I promise.  Since I can't really help P move furniture (not that I was super capable of it without this belly), we asked Bri if he would help us move our dresser to another part of our room and then bring the crib box up from the first floor.  Once all of that was accomplished, Chels and I got to work putting it together.  Aside from the fact that even at 10 at night it was too hot in our house and we were sweating, Chels and I got the crib put together without much trouble.

The alcove in our room where the nursery will be is still quite a mess on one side, so please ignore the piles of things that need to go somewhere else in our house now.  Here are some pictures of our beautiful work:

Jackson wanted in on the action

He was done with the photo shoot at this point.

Thanks BC!  We couldn't have done it without you guys!

Now...to decide on all of the other things we'll need...

22 Weeks

At 22 weeks our little bean is about 11 inches long - the length of spaghetti squash!  I have to be honest...we aren't sure WHAT we are going to do with this now that the picture was taken.  Any super spaghetti squash recipes out there??

For the last couple of days this kiddo has been moving around a TON (with the exception of this weekend when friends were in town and they would have liked to feel it!  I'm beginning to wonder if he got his dad's hard head or my shyness).  This week for the first time I had strangers start to notice my belly!  At Corner Bakery the woman who took our order asked if I wanted a cookie for the baby, and some women who work down the hall from me decided to go ahead and ask the awkward question.

My photographer didn't get home until after 8 last night, so some of the pictures are a bit dark, but here they are:
It probably didn't help that I was wearing black, either.

Not a great pic...but it is lighter...

21 Weeks

My "photographer" spent all weekend at the lab, so we had to take these pictures a bit late.  But, this week our wee babe is the length of a carrot.  At 21 weeks, he is 10 1/2 inches long and about 3/4 of a pound.  He has been so active lately that one time recently i saw my shirt move out of the corner of my eye when he kicked.  So, needless to say, P and I have enjoyed watching my belly jump the last few evenings.
Yes, same shirt different color

Decorating

I have spent a significant amount of time looking online at nursery ideas for the last week.  We are having a hard time deciding if we want to go with something super modern (my choice right now), something super preppy (P's choice right now), or something with a lot of color.  The one thing that we can agree on is that we don't really like a lot of the options at the main stores we have looked at.  My problem is that after I spend 2 hours looking at things online, I forget links or how I got to different pages and lose everything that I have been looking at.  I've decided that if I start to link to a few things from here though, I will have one central place that I can come back to when we are ready to pull the trigger on something.

This morning, I spent an outrageous amount of time looking at dresser drawer knobs for a dresser that we have not picked out or purchased.  Sometimes I do things quite backwards.  But, I found some cute stuff, and I don't want to forget about it later...you know...when I actually have a dresser to put them in.

If we do go the super modern route, our animal of decoration choice would be an elephant.  We have seen some really cute wall stickers and modern bedding with them, and that is why the first two knobs are elephants:

For something more simple, I like blue and white polka dots or small designs like the next two:

These last two knobs are just way cool, though I don't know if we would use either one:

A travel theme is something we have not given a whole lot of thought to, but it would make sense for us to think about it!   Hmm, something else to start searching the interwebs for!
