Haircut #7
Grayson's school closed early last Thursday, so I had to leave work a couple hours early myself. Gray was in desperate need of a haircut, so I decided to take him by Snip-its for a quick cut before Easter. I dread taking him to get a haircut because the last time I took him, he wailed through the whole thing. I warned the woman cutting his hair that he was a cry-er and she assured me that it was okay. As she sprayed his hair with some water the tears started flowing, but as she cut his hair, he was actually very still and quiet! He had the occasional whimper, but he did a great job!

I had already planned to take him for some frozen yogurt after his haircut. We went to Red Mango and found they had changed their format. It is now a self serve shop that prices the bowl by the weight. I served us up some pomegranate and original flavored yogurt and topped it with a few mini chocolate chips.
I think it was the best treat Grayson could think of! He enjoyed sitting (and standing) next to me in the booth and sharing the yogurt. Although we missed Daddy, it was a fun little outing for the two of us. He is such fun company these days, and I know it will only get better as he can communicate more with us.

Monkey Pajamas
Grayson is so enchanted with his own image. Last night I was trying to get him to tell me what was on his pajama shirt, but it took a while because he kept hamming it up in front of the camera - I was using the front camera on my phone so that he could see himself. There is not much to theses videos, but they make me laugh. Which I guess is good since it took me an hour and twenty minutes to get him to go to sleep last night!

A boy and his pup
It is no surprise that one of Grayson's first words has to do with Jack. Grayson has been obsessed in one way or another with him since the beginning: watching him go outside, telling him to sit, laughing hysterically at him when he growls (at Gray), playing in his bowls (oy), or yelling along with me and P when Jack won't.stop.barking at the delivery trucks that go by. Grayson mimics Jack when he barks some of the time these days with a whispered "ruff ruff" and then points his finger at Jack when he won't stop barking (I have no idea where he got that...). Gray constantly says 'pupuh' questioningly when he doesn't see Jack and then yells 'pupuh' emphatically when he finds him.
Over the last week and a half, we have taken Jack on walks instead of letting him in the backyard due to some fleas that we found on him. Grayson comes a long in the stroller, but when we get home, I let him out and he says, "pupuh?" because he wants the leash. I generally oblige, but stay very close in case something gets Jackson's attention. Oh, and I snapped a few cute pictures, too. Enjoy :)
Gray takes his dog walking very seriously. It is one of the cutest things I have ever seen.

Gray dropped the leash here, but only because it got wrapped around the pole. |

My baby is growing up!
He even started giving "real kisses" yesterday. I noticed when I picked him up from school and asked for a kiss that he didn't immediately open his mouth and lean in. He puckered his lips!! It kind of makes me a little bit sad. I love those slobbery open mouth kisses. I guess that is just one more reminder that he isn't going to be a baby forever. Happy 18 Months baby boy!

This and That
::This past weekend The Hubs found himself at the lab for a majority of his time, but he was able to sneak out Sunday afternoon for a while. Since it was such a beautiful day, we went to Chuy's for a late lunch and sat on the patio. P had his obligatory St. Paddy's Day beer (although it wasn't green) and I had a delicious prickly pear margarita. Since it was so late, I had already fed Grayson some lunch, but he snacked on some chips and tortillas. He still loves dipping chips into salsa when we let him - I just can't decide if he actually likes the taste. It was such a lovely afternoon and really felt like it energized us for the week.
::This kid is making it very difficult to get good pictures of him lately. He will not stand still once he sees a camera and insists on looking at the pictures you're taking. These are the best two that I got when I was alone with him on Sunday.
::One of Gray's main words right now is shoes. He came walking toward P with some of P's large boots saying, "shoes, shoes," plopped them on the floor and lifted his leg like he wanted in them.
::It has really warmed up in Houston over the past week - it was 91 degrees yesterday - and I don't have many pajama options for Grayson that are for warmer weather. I was looking through his PJ drawer and found a little outfit that family friends gave Gray at his baby shower. They had been in China before the shower and bought him this cute outfit. I die.
::Our little boy will be 1 1/2 tomorrow. I can't even believe it! What a difference a year makes:

If Gray knows that you're taking his picture, he poses like this every.single.time. |
