Pregnancy Weeks 11-14

Week 11
Last week was our second OB appointment.  We had our second ultrasound, which was super cool because we could see the bean moving around this time.  This was one of my first "it really feels real" moments because it was an ultrasound where they rub it on my belly and I have always associated that with pregnancy.  It totally looked like our little bean was waving at us and dancing around the whole time.  I can't wait until I can actually feel it.  I weighed in one pound up from our 8 week appointment.  This week I continue to be very tired and have a little nausea here and there.  I have been using the tummy sleeve with some of my pants this week, more for comfort than the fact that my pants won't button.

Week 12
This week we announced our pregnancy to everyone that we had not already told.  We are super excited to have the first trimester over with and look forward to the next one!  We went home this weekend and my mom and I did a little maternity clothes shopping as well as looking around the baby sections at a few stores.  I can still fit in most of my clothes, and honestly, I fit better in them now than I did a few weeks ago.  I think it is because the bloating from the first few weeks has gone down.  It is nice to have a few pairs of pants that I know I can wear if I am feeling uncomfortable in my pre-preggo pants now, though.

Week 13
I finally told the boss about our little bean on Friday.  I thought that they would have more questions and start planning out my scheduled audits for the next 6 months...but not yet!  I was super worried for nothing.  But, I am happy that it is no longer a secret at work.  The hubs took some pictures of me today at my request because I was feeling a little 'bump-ish'.  I am anxiously awaiting the official "pop" of my stomach, but I don't think it has really happened yet.
                                             13 weeks 4 days....maybe a small bump??

Week 14
We had our third OB appointment on Friday.  It was a quick trip (in and out in 15 minutes!), but we got to hear our sweet baby's heartbeat for the first time.  The bean's heartbeat was 148 bpm, which is completely average, and for now, we're elated with average...I'm sure the hubs will start expecting better than average once the bean is out of the womb.  For the weigh in, I have gained 1.8 pounds since the 10 week appointment, making that 2.8 pounds total so far.  I am happy with that, especially since I have read some places that I can expect to gain a pound a week from now on!  I weigh myself everyday right now, which I think is probably overkill, but I just want to be aware of what is going on with my body.  This week I was able to wear my regular clothes without the tummy sleeve all week, still waiting for the baby bump!

Why the name?

Picking a name for a blog was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be.  That, plus the fact that blogs have been around for quite a while meant slim pickins for me.  So, why ithad2bu?  The hubs and I picked that song out as "our song" when we were in college, which turned into the first song we danced to at our wedding.  Since I am so late on the blog scene, the regular spelling was gone, but I like this because BU is also our Alma mater.

I have started this blog as a way to chronicle my first pregnancy.  I want to remember all of the firsts and document them in a way that I will always have it.  Right now, the hubs and I live in Houston with our "first kid" the yorkie name Jackson.  We are very excited about our first child and can't wait to see what the future holds!
